La Liga club join race for €10 million-rated Barcelona outcast – report

Hector Fort has known for several days that he must leave FC Barcelona and that the Catalans are now prioritizing a permanent transfer for him.

Since last week, the 20-year-old La Masia graduate has been training away from the main group, with other players on the exit ramp, including Marc Casado.

As already reported, the Barça full-back has attracted interest from several European clubs while awaiting a final decision.

Everton, Fulham and Borussia Dortmund had already asked about the player’s situation, with reports even suggesting that the Bundesliga giants were best positioned to sign him.

Now, though, another club have entered the race to sign the youngster.

Real Sociedad want Hector Fort

Indeed, according to journalist Matteo Moretto (h/t SPORT), Real Sociedad have also shown interest in Hector Fort, seeking information about a potential transfer for the right-back.

The Basque club have a very positive opinion of the 20-year-old Barcelona academy graduate dating back to his loan spell at Elche last season.

Fort will not play any more matches for Barça during pre-season and is expected to make a decision very soon, potentially this week, with sporting considerations taking priority.

The player also had an approach from Elche, who wanted to keep him, but that possibility has been completely ruled out because it would only be another loan move.

Barça set a €10 million price

As per the report, Barcelona value Fort’s departure at around €10 million, meaning interested clubs would have to reach that figure to enter the race.

The final decision will then be Fort’s, based on his own sporting interests and which project he considers best for his development.

His case, alongside that of Marc Casado, is now one of the two remaining departures that Barça are closest to resolving, unless an unexpected exit occurs during the final days of the transfer window.

Barcelona are working hard to generate transfer income and create more salary-cap room, which would allow the club to register their remaining players during what could be a very active final stretch of the market.
