Keralam Electricity Minister Sunny Joseph was himself caught in the recurring power failures in the State when his speech was interrupted by a supply disruption at a function here on Friday (September 11, 2026).

Mr. Joseph was speaking about how former Chief Minister A.K. Antony had warned him that the Electricity department was a “crown of thorns,” and how he was striving to turn it into a “floral crown,” when the power failed. Later, he told mediapersons that the disruption was not part of the scheduled restrictions but a minor failure.
Mr. Joseph urged people to cooperate with the restrictions in view of the crisis, which, he admitted, could not be resolved with the ease of flipping a switch. Power restrictions are currently being enforced in the State between 6 p.m. and 12.45 a.m.
