The Kentucky basketball program is one of the true blue bloods of college basketball. They are the winningest program in history, and have produced a plethora of All-Americans and great players over the years.
A player who is looking to etch his name on that list is center Malachi Moreno, who is entering year two with the Wildcats this season. After a terrific freshman season, Mark Pope said he could be the best center in the country, and he could be ready to break out.
Like most Kentucky athletes, Moreno is a fan of the school's history, and the greats who came before him. His knowledge of the past was on display recently.
Moreno was recently asked by a fan on social media who his all-time Kentucky starting five would be, plus a sixth man. Here were his choices.
Point guard - John Wall

Wall played just one season in Lexington, but left a lasting impression on the university and its fans. He passed, scored, and danced his way to legendary status, and is still one of the most popular players in team history.
Shooting guard - Malik Monk
- 19.8 ppg
- 40% three-point shooting
There haven't been a lot of Wildcats with more athleticism than Monk. In his lone season at Kentucky he averaged nearly 20 points per game and seemed to created a highlight on a nightly basis.
Small forward - Jack "Goose" Givens
- 16.6 ppg
- 6'4 rpg
Givens starred for the Wildcats in the late 1970s, and helped win a championship in 1978. He was All-SEC three consecutive years, and an All-American once.
Power forward - Anthony Davis
- 14.2 ppg
- 4.7 bpg
One of the all-time great defensive players in college basketball history, Davis dominated on the way to a championship. He took over games on both ends of the floor, and was named the national Player of the Year.
Center - DeMarcus Cousins
- 15.1 ppg
- 9.8 rpg
Controversial though he may be, there's no doubting his effectiveness in the paint. He teamed up with Wall for form one of the best inside-outside duos in Wildcats history.
Sixth man - Reed Sheppard
- 12.5 ppg
- 2.5 spg
Though he wasn't even a starter, Sheppard did everything well, and became a beloved player in Lexington. His hard-nosed play and excellence in all aspects of the game make him a perfect sixth man choice.
