The madness of the college sports world continues, and now, the latest lawsuit could have a direct impact for Kentucky Basketball.

A class action lawsuit was filed in Kentucky, as multiple Class of 2022 college athletes are seeking a 5th year of eligibility in regard to the NCAA’s new five-for-five rule. Among those individuals who filed the lawsuit: Mark Mitchell.

Mitchell’s career includes stops at Duke and most recently, Missouri. This past season at Missouri, Mitchell was named second-team All-SEC after leading the Tigers in scoring with 18.3 points per game to go along with 5.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists.

Kentucky has been linked with Mitchell for a while now, and while it’s no guarantee that Mitchell would choose Kentucky for his extra season, there’s a lot of reason for optimism if Mitchell is granted an injunction to play another season.

A hearing is scheduled for 10:30 ET this morning in the case.

Obviously, if Kentucky can add Mitchell, it would be a massive addition for Mark Pope’s squad and solidify what should be one of the best front courts in the SEC with Mitchell, Milan Momcilovic, and Malachi Moreno.

We should probably know more after today’s hearing, so stay tuned!

Tweet of the Day

Obviously it would make no sense for Mark Mitchell to file for an extra year in Kentucky unless he was going to Kentucky as the injunction would only be for this state

Judge Edwards is also a good draw for the judge as he is relatively plaintiff friendly in general

A couple things to consider about the lawsuit.
