.The Kentucky football team continues to plant its flag in Texas, and the program's newest offer went out to one of the more explosive route-runners in the state. The Wildcats have extended a scholarship offer to Carson LaCombe, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound wide receiver out of Pieper High School in San Antonio, who ranks as the No. 30 wide receiver nationally in his class per 247Sports.

What makes this offer notable isn't just the size and the ranking — it's the timeline. Kentucky didn't just discover LaCombe. The staff has been building this relationship for months, even after a planned camp visit fell through. That patience is exactly why the Wildcats are now squarely in the mix for a receiver who's drawing attention from across the Power Four.

LaCombe took time to break down the offer, what's standing out in his recruitment, and how he's spent his offseason getting ready for the season ahead.

On finally landing the Kentucky offer after months of staying in touch:

"I'm excited for the offer. I was scheduled to attend a camp at UK in the summer, and that camp ended up getting canceled, but I've stayed in contact with Coach Price," LaCombe said.

It's a reminder that recruiting relationships don't live or die on a single camp date. A canceled visit could have quietly ended the thread; instead, both sides kept the line open, and it turned into a real offer.

On what stands out about what Kentucky is building:

"The fans and the fact that they play in the SEC really stand out," LaCombe said.

For a receiver getting attention from around the country, the SEC brand and the atmosphere Kentucky's fanbase creates on Saturdays are clearly resonating early—even before an official visit has happened.

On his offseason focus:

"I've worked hard in the offseason at improving my route running and my IQ as a WR. I attended a few camps and was able to pick up some great tips from elite coaches that I think will help."

Route-running precision and mental processing are exactly the traits that separate ranked receivers from the pack once fall football starts, and it's clear LaCombe has been intentional about targeting both this offseason.

On the programs standing out most right nowKentucky now joins a recruitment that's loaded with high-major competition. LaCombe named Oklahoma, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Northwestern, and Arizona State as the programs he's hearing from the most heading into the season—a mix of SEC and Big Ten heavyweights that shows just how wide his appeal has become. On his fall gameday travel plans

LaCombe is already mapping out a busy schedule of visits to some of the sport's biggest matchups this season. He's currently planning to attend the following:

Clemson at LSUArizona State at Texas A&MLSU at Ole MissBaylor at Arizona StateOle Miss at OklahomaMichigan at Ohio State

That's not a random list—it touches nearly every school currently pushing hardest for him, which suggests LaCombe and his family are using this fall to get a firsthand look at atmosphere, coaching staffs in game settings, and how these programs use receivers on Saturdays.Kentucky's offer didn't come out of nowhere—it's the payoff of months of relationship-building through Coach Price even after a setback with a canceled camp. But the Wildcats are far from alone here. With Oklahoma, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Northwestern, and Arizona State all pushing hard, and a fall visit itinerary built almost entirely around those programs, LaCombe's recruitment is shaping up to be one of the more competitive Texas battles to track as the 2026 season kicks off.
