Newtonmore's 55-year-old goalkeeper Kenny Ross saved three time in a penalty shoot-out as the holders came from 2-0 down at Oban Camananchd to reach the Camanachd Cup final.

The holders trailed to Connor Howe's first-half double at Taynuilt and looked spent. But Steven MacDonald pulled one back from the spot and Matthew Sloss equalised with three minutes left.

Camanachd went down to 11 men late in the second half when Garry McKerracher was dismissed, but Newtonmore lost Declan Brannan to a second yellow early in extra time to level things.

And with no further scoring, Ross made three spectacular saves in the shoot-out before Brodie MacBean converted to set up a final with local rivals Kingussie on 19 September in Oban.

Those two lead the way in the Premiership, too, with Kingussie cutting Newtonmore's advantage at the top to four points after coming from behind for a 4-1 victory at Fort William.

Victor Smith gave Fort the breakthrough midway through the first half, but four goals in 17 minutes early in the second half by Calum McLay, Rory Munro, Jack Nelson and Ruaridh Anderson gave Kingussie the points.

Kinlochshiel moved up to third with a 2-0 defeat of Caberfeidh at Rearaig, John MacRae and Ali Nixon scoring in the second half.

Play in the relegation zone went Skye's way when the island side defeated Kyles 3-1 at Tighnabruich, while Col Glen went down 2-1 to Lochaber at Spean Bridge.

Dan MacDonald opened for Skye and Logan Sim equalised before Skye stretched away with a second from MacDonald and one from Jamie Gillies.

Kyle Martin got the breakthrough for Col Glen and Ben Delaney equalised for Lochaber, whose winner from Stuart Callison came deep into stoppage time.

This sees Skye edging towards safety with five points from nine games, with the relegation zone occupied by Col Glen on three points from 12 and Kyles with two from 11.

In the National Division, Lovat defeated visitors Glasagow Mid Argyll 4-1 but are still unable to confirm promotion alongside Glenurquhart.
