When the Indianapolis Colts signed wide receiver Keenan Allen, the No. 13, which has been his number throughout his career, was taken by wide receiver Laquon Treadwell.
The expectation was that Allen would get the number one way or the other, but it turns out that is not the case.
On Wednesday, Treadwell revealed to the media that he will be keeping Allen’s number.
“I told him, ‘I respect the game. I know what you did in the number,’” Treadwell said of his conversation with Allen, per James Boyd of The Athletic. “Me and my family, we did a lot of praying about it as well. So, he was cool with me keeping the number.”

Instead of his usual number, Allen will now wear No. 10, marking the first time in his career he has worn a different number.
An odd decision
Allen has played 12 of his 13 seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, and even in the one season he wasn’t with Los Angeles, he wore No. 13 with the Chicago Bears.
It is at least a bit odd Treadwell is so attached to the number and won’t give it to a far more established player like Allen.
One reason is Treadwell has worn several different digits on his jersey during his career.
Treadwell isn’t even guaranteed to stick on the roster for long. In fact, history suggests he’s unlikely to make it through the season with the Colts.

Granted, the Colts have a shaky situation at wide receiver, but Treadwell has bounced around with several different teams during what has been a disappointing career for the former second-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings.
After his three-year stint with the Vikings, Treadwell has appeared in games with the Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens.
He has also had cups of coffee with the Arizona Cardinals and New England Patriots.
Keenan Allen’s 2026 outlook with Colts
Allen is slated to be one of the top targets for quarterback Daniel Jones in 2026.
Alec Pierce is viewed as the No. 1 target, but the No. 2 spot is most certainly up for grabs.
Along with Allen, Josh Downs is also vying for that role.
