(is associated with: «Kane brace as Bayern beat Osnabrück 4-1 in German Cup») David-Wolfgang Ebener/dpa Harry Kane scored a brace as title holders Bayern Munich overcame an early scare to beat second division Osnabrück 4-1 on Wednesday in the first round of the German Cup. The hosts took a surprise fifth-minute lead when Robin Meissner won a duel against Germany defender Jonathan Tah and volleyed over goalkeeper Jonas Urbig into the top right corner from some 30 metres. The lead brought back memories of 1978 when Osnabrück shocked a Bayern team boasting the likes of Gerd Müller, Paul Breitner and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge 5-4 in Munich in the Cup, but Bayern soon made sure that history didn't repeat itself. Kane volleyed an 18th-minute equalizer from close range when Osnabrück failed to clear a chipped ball from Joshua Kimmich, and Tom Bischof tapped home for 2-1 six minutes later after goalkeeper Jonas Krumrey had saved a first effort from Luis Díaz. Bayern did not make the game safe until the 73rd minute when Michael Olise chipped into the far corner. Kane wrapped up matters with a late penalty. "We attacked until the end. We knew it would be a tough test," Urbig told Sky TV while also admitting that Meissner's goal against him was "amazing." Osnabrück football director Joe Enochs said: "Meissner scored an outstanding goal but Bayern then showed that they are a world class team." Bayern coach Vincent Kompany took no risks and fielded a strong team against Osnabrück, who were promoted from the third tier in summer. Newly signed Ismael Saibari made his first start for Bayern while Jamal Musiala was not yet part of the squad again after collapsing in two pre-season games due to absence seizures and sitting out the start to the season while his medication was adjusted. The match concluded the first round of the competition. The second round is drawn on Saturday and played October 27 and 28.
