Real Madrid are in the final stages of their preparations for the 2026-27 season, their first campaign back under Jose Mourinho’s tutelage. The Portuguese returned to the Bernabeu earlier this summer to lead the club’s recovery, as they seek to end a run of two years in a row without a major trophy.
One of the leading players that will be tasked with turning around Real Madrid’s fortunes is Jude Bellingham. The English midfielder returned to Valdebebas earlier this following his successful exploits at the 2026 World Cup, and upon speaking to Real Madrid TV (via MD), he expressed his excitement at the prospect of working under Mourinho.
“I feel that I have a relationship with him already and it is a dream for me to work with a coach like Mourinho. I only had one chance to see him, but I’m very excited to see how he’s like. I’m running a lot, in the heat, and I’m playing a lot of football with my teammates. It’s hard, but it’s good to enjoy. I like this suffering very much.”
Bellingham believes in successful 2026-27 season
Optimism is high within Real Madrid after strong summer, which was headlined by Mourinho’s return 13 years after his first spell came to an end. Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Yan Diomande and Carlos Espi have also arrived, and Bellingham believes that the ingredients are there for Los Blancos to have a very successful 2026-27 season, which gets underway next week with a trip to Espanyol.
“Now I’m a little more of a man and I have more experience. I have a good feeling for this season with the new signings and the coach. It is an honour and a pride for me to play for this club. Hopefully it will be many more years (that I stay here).”
