American Jordan Chiles is returning to gymnastics, the two-time Olympian announced Wednesday, making a run for the Los Angeles Games in 2028.
Chiles’ decision means that every member of the gold medal-winning Paris squad except Simone Biles has announced a comeback. Biles has not yet made a decision about whether she will return for what would be her fourth Games.
Chiles was a member of the silver medal U.S. women’s team in Tokyo, and came back for gold in Paris. She also won bronze on floor in 2024 before the IOC reallocated the medal to Romania over a dispute involving a score inquiry. Chiles appealed the decision to the Court of Arbitration of Sport, where it is still pending. Chiles also won two NCAA bars titles and two floor titles as a student at UCLA, where she graduated in the spring.
Six-time Olympic medalist Suni Lee announced her comeback in July. Fellow 2021 and 2024 teammate, Jade Carey, returned to elite competition in June, while the fourth member of the Paris squad, Hezly Rivera, recently won her second national championship in the two years since the 2026 Games.
