Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow wore an “I work here” hat after his team’s preseason win.
Chaos erupted.
That’s the entirety of the story, really. Some onlookers thought it was the latest in a long line of harmless, sometimes strange fashion statements (backless suit, anyone?) from the Bengals quarterback.
Others of a more conspiratorial sort, though, were given ammunition and able to proclaim that Burrow was sending a message.
So much so, talking heads like Rich Eisen even got in on the action, suggesting that most of the three possible interpretations have negative meanings:

Whatever “message” Burrow might be sending with the hat is pretty hard to say. We’re talking about the guy who wore an alien head to work one time, after all.
Some will argue that Burrow did this with intent and that he’s calculating in every public move. But given the strong offseason by the Bengals and the fact he’s shot public messages at the front office publicly over the years when desired, it’s hard to think of this as anything more than a funny fashion moment.
