NEW YORK — During Monday’s practice, the New York Jets had a bit of a scare after Breece Hall suffered a strained groin. But the good news is Jets head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters on Tuesday that Hall will be out 2-3 weeks. But they anticipate he will be ready for Week 1’s matchup against the Titans on Sept. 13 in Nashville, Tenn. “Obviously, for that player, knowing how important he is for what we’re doing, it was really exciting to hear it,” Glenn said about Hall. On Monday, Hall went to the ground untouched during 11-on-11 drills. After he got up from the ground, Hall grabbed his right leg and limped to the sideline to be examined by trainers in the medical tent. He did not return to practice and afterward, Glenn suggested that Hall’s injury wasn’t serious. “It’s definitely a relief,” Jets quarterback Geno Smith said. “We need Breece and praying for a speedy recovery from him. “He’s a big part of our offense and our team, he’s a leader on our team and on our offense, and so his presence is felt when he’s out there. So, we appreciate him and just hoping he comes back as soon as possible.” After he signed a three-year, $43.5 million extension during the offseason, it’s understandable why the Jets would want to be cautious with Hall. He is one of the most important pieces of an offense that has struggled, especially at the quarterback position in recent years. The Jets' passing attack had problems getting the ball down the field with Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor and Brady Cook behind center last year. In March, the Jets acquired Smith in a trade with the Raiders, which they hope will lead to more explosive passing plays. They also brought in former Colts and Panthers coach Frank Reich as offensive coordinator to improve a unit that finished 29th in offensive yards per game and dead last in passing yards. Last season, Hall, 25, became the first Jets running back to rush for 1,000 yards since Chris Ivory in 2015. Hall with a career-high 1,065 yards and four touchdowns. He also caught 36 passes for 350 yards and a touchdown. During the past three seasons, Hall has averaged 1,453 yards from scrimmage and 56 catches. He has also averaged 978 rushing yards during that same span. Hall tore his ACL during his rookie season in 2022, which limited him to just seven games. But since then, he has missed just two games in three seasons, including last year when he played in 16 of the 17 games for the Jets. ____
