opened with a tribute to the victims of Sept. 11, 2001, on Friday. The Network host marked the 25th anniversary while acknowledging the day’s significance before discussing Week 1.
“It is Friday, September 11th, 2026. It is the 25th anniversary of 9-11,” Erdahl said. “It is a heavy day here on this show.
“We want to love the fact that Week 1 has started on this season. It is a day that our country changed forever. It changed our hearts. It changed us as a society. So we are with you today with heavy hearts.”

Erdahl said the program would cover football while remembering those affected by the attacks.
“We also remember those that lost their lives on this tragic day,” Erdahl added. “Our hearts are with this country today. This is GMFB.”
Erdahl hosted the show alongside Manti Te’o and Kyle Brandt. The program aired from Los Angeles, while Brandt appeared from New York.
The September 11 attacks killed 2,977 people after 19 al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial airplanes. Two aircraft struck New York’s World Trade Center, while another hit the Pentagon.
United Flight 93 crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers attempted to regain control. The attacks changed US security policy and had major global consequences.
NFL Week 1 continues amid 9/11 remembrance
The league then staged its first regular-season game in Australia on Thursday. San Francisco defeated the Los Angeles Rams 27-7 at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Week 1 continues Sunday with 13 games. The first Sunday slate begins at 1 p.m. ET, followed by late-afternoon games at 4:25 p.m. ET.

Then, to wrap up Week 1, the Denver Broncos will play the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football on Sept. 14 at 8:15 p.m. ET.
