New York Giants’ young quarterback Jaxson Dart took a massive hit from the Minnesota Vikings’ Jay Ward in the first quarter on Saturday at MetLife Stadium. Dart was removed from the game and sent to the medical tent.
After Dart was checked out by medical personnel, he re-entered the game and eventually threw a touchdown pass. The Vikings won 13-10, but Dart had questions about the NFL concussion protocol after the game.

Dart met with reporters at a post-game press conference where he openly wondered why he’s getting tested for a concussion every time he gets hit.
“I really respect the rules and the thought behind what the NFL has of keeping players healthy and reviewing things,” Dart said. “At the same time, I’m still puzzled by it just feeling like every time that I get hit, I find my way in there, which at times, I’m still trying to wrap my head around.”
Playing in just the first half against Minnesota, Dart was 3-of-4 passing for 26 yards, 1 touchdown pass, and was sacked 2 times for 15 yards in losses.

Jameis Winston and Brandon Allen also took snaps as the Giants’ quarterback in the game.
Dart has taken some big hits in his time in the NFL, so he’s spent a lot of time in the medical tent. However, the Giants quarterback is still unsure whether he needs to be evaluated for a concussion every time he takes a hit on the field.
Last season for the Giants, Dart threw for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions in 14 games. According to the PFN NFL QB Impact Metric, he finished the 2025 NFL season with a 73.4 impact score, ranking 23rd in the league.
The team hopes that Dart can avoid taking big hits this season. New Giants head coach John Harbaugh is trying to tweak as many things as possible during the NFL preseason, and keeping the second-year quarterback healthy is one of his priorities.
