WOODRUFF, S.C. (WSPA) - It's the most wonderful time of the year in the Carolinas: high school football season! With the 2026 season inching closer, the Woodruff Wolverines previewed ahead of kickoff on Friday August 21 at Broome.
WOODRUFF WOLVERINES:
Head Coach: Brett Sloan, 4th season
2025 Record: 11-2, 4-0 (Region Champs)
- 20 wins combined past two seasons
Key Returners:
Connor Davis (QB), Aiden Gibson (RB), Paul Davis (OL/DL), Malachi Thompson (DB), Curtis Bell (WR/DB), Micah McClintock (WR, TE, LB), Dawson Clevenger (OL/DL).
Key Losses:
Shawn Graybill (TE/LB), Travon Lee (TE/LB), Jordan Hood (LB/DL), Jalen Roberson (RB/LB)
Preview:
The Wolverines were dealt a major blow in July when star running back Aiden Gibson departed for Rutgers. Jalen Lyles went from back-up to starter just like that and will work behind returning QB Connor Davis and targets in the passing game going like WR Burtis Bell and TE Micah McClintock, but there's a huge void to be failed.
Defensively Paul Davis and Dawson Clevenger anchor things up front while Malachi Thompson returns in the secondary.
