The weather played havoc over the weekend with several games moved or even canceled. In fact, among the state’s top 10 teams, only three were in action. There were still some exciting inter-sectional games, highlighted by a huge win by Mililani over the No. 2 team in Nevada.

Below are the top 25 Hawaii high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Aug. 17.

1. Kahuku (1-0)

The Red Raiders had their game with Wai’anae canceled due to weather. They will take on No. 2 ranked Kamehameha on Friday (Aug. 21).

2. Mililani (1-0)

In the game of the weekend, the Trojans rallied to beat Henderson (Nev.) Liberty, the No. 2 ranked team in Nevada 31-24. Junior standout quarterback Hunter Fujikawa showed why he’s so highly touted, throwing for 275 yards and three touchdowns. Bless Cabrera-Hopkins put on a show and showed he’s among the top un-committed receivers out West, with eight catches for 148 yards and two touchdowns. Trison and Toa Satele both made plays on defense to get the second half shut out for the Trojans. Next up is another big game with in-state powerSt. Louis August 22.

3. Kamehameha (1-1)

The Warriors lost a defensive slugfest to a very good Orem (Utah) team 16-7. The offense never found a rhythm against an Orem defense that has four Power 4 prospects on their defensive line alone. Running back Maddox Sharrer ran for 88 tough yards and a touchdown for the Warriors but it wasn’t enough. The Warriors defense had four sacks, including two from Esaiah Wong, on the night and only gave up 10 points (one Orem TD was on a pick 6). Kamehameha will try and regroup against another tough team in No. 1 ranked Kahuku on Friday.

4. St. Louis (0-1)

The Crusaders had a bye this weekend and will take on a talented Mililani squad on Saturday (Aug. 22).

5. Punahou (1-0)

The Buff n Blue had a bye over the weekend and take on No. 10 Kapa’a on Saturday (Aug. 22).

6. Kapolei (0-0)

The Hurricanes will open their season August 15 against No. 16 ranked Kamehameha (Maui).

7. Waipahu (1-0)

The Marauders had a bye this weekend and will play a talented Kapoei squad on August 21.

8. James Campbell (0-1)

The Sabres had a bye this weekend and will take on No. 9 ranked Moanalua August 21.

9. Moanalua (1-0)

Moanalua had a bye this weekend and will take on James Campbell on August 21.

10. Kapaa (0-1)

The Warriors lost to a very solid San Clemente (Calif.) team 23-8 in a hard fought game. The Tritons are annually one of the top teams in California and currently ranked No. 7 in Orange County so no shame in dropping a tight one. Quarterback Kaitin Mundon scored on a two yard run late in the 4th quarter to prevent the shutout for Kapaa. The Warriors take on No. 5 ranked Punahou on Saturday (Aug. 22)
