New Delhi: There are doubts over the fitness status of Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy, with both unlikely to join the Indian team for the T20 series against Afghanistan in Delhi, TOI has learnt. Rana and Reddy, along with recovering star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, underwent match simulation tests at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru on Wednesday. While Rana is all but ruled out, Reddy might still play a few games.
The India T20I team is scheduled to start training at the Arun Jaitley Stadium from Thursday for the T20I series.
“CoE wants to take a cautious approach before clearing the players. The players are clinically fit but they may require another 10-15 days to be match fit,” BCCI sources said, adding, “Selectors will have a discussion with CoE and team management about the situation on Thursday morning. Bumrah’s participation in the series and the Asian Games will also be discussed.”
