Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the 15-year-old batter, has emerged as one of Indian cricket's most talked-about young talents at a tender age. The teenage sensation made history during India's T20I series in England, becoming the youngest-ever cricketer to represent the country in international cricket and surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's long-standing record. Sooryavanshi played in the fourth T20I between England and India at the County Ground in Bristol, marking a significant milestone in his fledgling career.

Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has expressed his admiration for the young player's exceptional abilities and fearless approach to the game. The cricketer-turned-commentator said that the teenager possesses qualities rarely seen in players of his age group and has already demonstrated the ability to trouble world-class bowlers.

"Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is an amazing thing. He is a unique player. I think he is a player that I have not seen before a player who can dominate the world at 14-15 years of age. When the world's top bowlers are bowling to him, they are actually thinking about where to bowl. That itself is a big, big statement. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi says a 15-year-old kid can do this. Don't think of him as a kid. A kid can do what adults can't," Harbhajan said in an interview as quoted by NDTV.

Sooryavanshi's record-breaking performances across formats

In the 2026 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup final, Sooryavanshi scored 175 runs off just 80 balls against England, smashing 15 fours and 15 sixes as India claimed victory. This explosive innings showcased his ability to take on quality bowling attacks with remarkable composure and aggression. The teenager has also made an impact in the Indian Premier League, where he plays for Rajasthan Royals.

During an IPL 2026 match between RR and Mumbai Indians at Barsapara Stadium, Guwahati, on April 7, the Samastibur-born hit a six off the first ball of Jasprit Bumrah's over, demonstrating his fearlessness against established international bowlers. Harbhajan further noted that the young player is ready for the next level of competition, emphasising that age should not be a limiting factor in assessing his potential.
