A total of seven high school golf programs took to the links over the past week in high school golf action, with the South Webster boys golf program winning the first SOC III match of the season at Franklin Valley Golf Course in Jackson on the boys side, the Wheelersburg girls golf program claiming the first SOC girls match of the year at Little Scioto Golf Course in Wheelersburg, and Evan Rider shooting a career-low 78 in an SOC I match at Big Beaver Golf Course in Piketon to lead the outputs from a Southern Ohio Conference standpoint within the week.

SOC III Boys — Franklin Valley GC, Jackson

In SOC III Boys Golf action that was held on Monday at Franklin Valley, the South Webster boys golf program amassed a 58-over 342 as a group, edged out West’s 65-over 349 to claim a seven-stroke lead in the first SOC II boys golf match of the 2026 season.

The two programs were followed in order by Wheelersburg (93-over 377), Waverly (100-over 384), Minford (117-over 401) and Valley (140-over 424), respectively.

Of individual scores that were made public, Harrison Richards led West with an 82, while Logan Journey and Cason Frump each shot 88s.

54 holes remain in the season for the six-team league.

SOC Girls Golf — Little Scioto GC, Wheelersburg

In SOC girls golf at Little Scioto, it was Wheelersburg who took the early lead in the title race as the Lady Pirates shot a 72-over 216. ‘Burg leads Symmes Valley, who shot a 101-over 245, by 29 strokes.

Eastern Pike and West, who shot a 103-over 247 and a 121-over 265, finished third and fourth respectively.

Of scores that were made public, Kylee McCleese and Shelbi Day each led West with 61s on their respective scorecards. Gracelynn Bigham and Shelby Hurst followed with a 71 and a 72.

SOC I Boys Golf — Big Beaver GC, Piketon

In SOC I boys golf, the Notre Dame Titans’ and Clay Panthers’ boys golf programs each finished second and third behind Ironton St. Joseph in the first SOC I boys match of the 2026 season, with Notre Dame placing second with a 359 and Clay placing in third with a 365.

Evan Rider ultimately led the Panthers with a 78 on his scorecard to finish fourth while shooting six-over, while Bryce Whitley nabbed an 83 and London Sinclair a 100 to lead the Panthers. All three players shot 18-hole career-lows.

In addition to Rider’s fourth place finish, Whitley finished eighth while Sinclair finished 11th, Derick Oliver 14th and Luke McClary 15th for Clay.

Notre Dame, meanwhile, was led by Garrett Barbarits’ 82. Kenady McGraw’s 85 and Carter Ingles’ 90 followed suit.

Barbarits finished seventh and McGraw ninth, while Ingles rounded out the top-10 in 10th. Boston Mayberry and Maddox Nolan tied for 12th place.
