It was reported by multiple outlets that former Georgia Bulldogs safety JaCorey Thomas transferred to the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Thomas was a former four-star recruit out of Boone High School in Orlando, Florida, in the class of 2022. He was ranked as the No. 26 safety in the country. He was predicted to commit to Florida State but chose UGA out of high school. Thomas enrolled early at Georgia in January of 2022.
Thomas spent four years with the Bulldogs from 2022 to 2025 but was reportedly granted another year of eligibility after suing the NCAA and getting a restraining order. While playing college football for the Bulldogs, Thomas totaled 63 tackles, one sack, and two passes defended. He was also on the national championship team as a freshman in 2022. Last year was his best season, gaining 45 tackles and a sack in 14 games.
Thomas went undrafted in the 2026 NFL draft. He had a tryout with the Carolina Panthers after the draft, but was not signed.
He officially entered the transfer portal on Sept. 4, which was one day before Georgia took on Tennessee State. Only three days later, he committed to WVU. Now he joins a Mountaineers team that's 1-0 after a 31-24 victory against Coastal Carolina last week.
