Chairing a review meeting at J.H. Patel Hall of the Koppal Zilla Panchayat on Wednesday, Mr. Ramappa said the benefits of government schemes should reach all eligible beneficiaries within the stipulated time and that officials should respond promptly to the community’s grievances.
He reviewed the progress of schemes implemented by the corporation, including those relating to self-employment, entrepreneurship, Ganga Kalyana, microcredit and land ownership. He asked officials to ensure that beneficiaries under loan schemes received adequate banking support. He also directed Gescom officials to facilitate electricity connections to borewells taken up under the Ganga Kalyana scheme.
At a press conference later, Mr. Ramappa said the State government had allocated ₹75.60 crore for various Karnataka Bhovi Development Corporation schemes for 2026-27, of which ₹18.90 crore had been released. Nine sub-groups of the Scheduled Caste community – Bhovi, Vad, Vadde, Vdder, Vadkar, Vaddar, Kallu Vdder, Bhovi (non-Besta) and Mannu Vaddar – had been identified to avail themselves of the schemes, he said.
Providing details of the schemes implemented in Koppal district, he said 124 beneficiaries had received ₹1.24 crore under the self-employment direct loan scheme between 2022-23 and 2025-26.
Under entrepreneurship schemes implemented with bank assistance, 36 beneficiaries had received ₹36 lakh as a subsidy of ₹1 lakh each, while 31 beneficiaries had received ₹62 lakh at ₹2 lakh each and nine beneficiaries had received ₹31.50 lakh at ₹3.50 lakh each, he said.
Under the Swavalambi Sarathi scheme, 35 beneficiaries had received ₹1.40 crore in subsidy at ₹4 lakh each for vehicle purchases. The micro-credit scheme had extended ₹60 lakh in loans to 180 beneficiaries belonging to 18 groups, Mr. Ramappa said.
Under the Ganga Kalyana scheme, 59 borewells had been drilled in the district, for which ₹20.650 lakh had been paid to the contractor, he said.
Under the land ownership scheme, 34 beneficiaries had been provided with 38.25 acres of dry land and nine acres of wetland at a total cost of ₹4.80 crore. The unit cost under the scheme had been increased to ₹20 lakh from 2023-24, he said.
Mr. Ramappa urged members of the Bhovi community to make use of the corporation’s schemes to achieve economic self-reliance. He also asked officials to work towards achieving the prescribed targets and ensuring that beneficiaries did not face delays in accessing government assistance.
