After a brief hiatus, the Five Star Sports Podcast returns on KLST plus. Week one of the high school football season is in the books, and two coaches join the show this week to share their early thoughts, reactions, etc.
Wall head coach Craig Slaughter discusses his team's thrilling 42-35 comeback win over No. 10 Canyon West Plains. In that game, Hawks quarterback Gunner King threw for 415 yards and four touchdowns, completing 26 of 37 passes. On the ground, King rushed for 32 yards and one touchdown on five carries. Coach Slaughter discusses his team's new-look lineup, early adversity and King's heroic performance.
The second interview features Christoval Cougars head coach Tanner McLean, who discusses his team's 35-14 win over Eldorado. In that game, the Cougars and Eagles exchanged first-half touchdowns, leading to a 14-13 halftime score. The second half was a different story, as Christoval scored 22 unanswered points to turn a close game into a lopsided win. Coach McLean discusses his team's second-half adjustments, his players' mentality along with early thoughts on a tough district schedule.
The third and final segment introduces the newest edition of fan-favorite segment 'Trivia Riff with Griff,' where Charles attempts to stump Griff with a variety of high-school football themed questions.
