Evander Kane has fired back at Christina Marleau after she allowed her criticism of the former San Jose Sharks forward to go public.
Christina, the wife of Kane’s former Sharks teammate Patrick Marleau, made the comments in a post shared by former NHLer Kurtis Gabriel. She claimed Patrick “has an incredibly strong disgust for that boy.”
She also alleged that Patrick would not allow their sons inside the Sharks locker room when Kane was present. Marleau further referenced Kane having “full custody of a little girl” while criticizing the system.

Kane responded by challenging the claim about Patrick’s alleged feelings. He shared a private text exchange involving Patrick and referenced a school project involving their son.
“‘Strong disgust’? That’s an interesting way to describe someone who had no problem reaching out to me,” Kane wrote on X.
Kane said Patrick contacted him when he “needed help with your son’s school project.” He added that he “graciously obliged” and received a thank-you message afterward.
Kane used the exchange to question whether Marleau’s description accurately reflected his relationship with Patrick.
“So either his “strong disgust” disappears when I’m useful to him, or the story you’re telling doesn’t quite match reality,” Kane said about Christina’s claims.
The message shared by Kane showed Patrick expressing appreciation for the help. “Thank you so much for doing that!!!!” Patrick wrote.
“You have no idea how happy you made my son and his project partner,” the message continued. “I’m so greatful for you to take the time.”

The response follows recent public criticisms of Kane from people connected to his NHL career. Gabriel previously accused Kane of poor conduct during their time together with San Jose.
“Every meeting, Evander Kane shows up late,” Gabriel said. He also claimed Kane arrived in “flip flops” and a tracksuit while teammates wore suits.
Gabriel later described Kane as displaying “pure narcissism” and questioned his conduct as a teammate.
Kane has rejected the criticism and previously promised to release what he called “facts, receipts, and the actual truth.” He also warned that “plenty of names” could eventually emerge.

The latest post adds Marleau’s family to the growing public dispute. Kane’s decision to publish the private exchange provides his response to one specific allegation.
Kane remains an unrestricted free agent after recording 13 goals and 31 points for the Vancouver Canucks last season. His public dispute with former NHL connections continues while he remains without a contract.
