Nikola Jokic understands the responsibility he has with the status of being one of the best superstars in the NBA. However, even the Denver regarding the fame he has in the sport.
Jokic has been playing in the NBA since 2015, following the Nuggets’ draft selection of him in 2014. He made his way up the ranks to breaking records as an elite player, leading the franchise to a championship in 2023.
Jokic took part in an interview on the Jao Mile Podcast. It is there where he he has garnered over the years. Safe to say he misses the quiet lifestyle he once had as a player before becoming a superstar.
“I miss it so much. I’m getting more and more bothered by popularity. This is going to sound corny, but, I’m getting ruder to people who approach me. Honestly, it’s tiring…Some people around me know, I don’t take pictures because it’s my time. I’ll sound rude again, but what can I do? If people can’t understand me, I understand everything, but it’s been 11-12 years and enough is enough. I feel better when someone tells me something, like you come to the zoo and take a picture of something.”
What lies ahead for Nikola Jokic and Nuggets next season
Denver performed well in the 2025-26 regular season, finishing with a 54-28 record. They finished at third place in the Western Conference standings, being above the Los Angeles Lakers and the Houston Rockets while being under the San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, they suffered a stunning first-round exit after losing to the Timberwolves in six games.
Denver made tweaks to the roster this summer, moving on from Peyton Watson by trading him to the Cleveland Cavaliers. They added DeMar DeRozan from free agency, preparing for what could be a pivotal 2026-27 campaign for the franchise.
