Emmanuel Ogbah on desire for return to Chiefs since Super Bowl LIV

Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Emmanuel Ogbah spoke with reporters after practice on Monday at Missouri Western State University. He said he wanted to return to the Chiefs after being part of the Super Bowl LIV-winning roster. "You know, just coming back. It's been a long time," said Ogbah, "I always knew I was gonna come back eventually. I didn't know when. But it feels good being back." Ogbah spent the 2019 season with the Chiefs but had his season cut short due to injury and was unavailable for the playoff run to Super Bowl LIV. He shared that staying in touch with defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo over the years helped lead to his eventual one-year deal to return ahead of the 2026 season. "Yeah, definitely kept in touch with Spags (Steve Spagnuolo)," said Ogbah, "But at the same time, it's like I just knew it was something for me still in Kansas City, and when you have that in the back of your head, whenever this opportunity (comes up), you try to come back, and that was my goal, man. I'm glad (we) was able to make it work." The 32-year-old has a career total of 48 sacks through 136 games, securing nine forced fumbles and two interceptions. Aside from his lone Super Bowl season with the Chiefs, Ogbah has spent time with the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, and, last season, the Jacksonville Jaguars. "Every time I watch the Chiefs play, I get a little salty but at the same time, root for those guys. I know a lot of those guys who were still here when I came here, when we won it," said Ogbah. "It's always awesome when we play against them. I want to beat them, but you know when we don't play against them, i usually root for them too." In the 2025 season, Ogbah played 13 games, starting 3 and securing 15 total tackles, .5 sacks, and a fumble recovery.
