Claudio Echeverri has joined Benfica on a season-long loan.
City complete Enzo Fernández signing from Chelsea
The Argentinian playmaker signed for City in January 2024 but remained at previous club River Plate until the following new year.
He left Buenos Aires after a sparkling Under-20 South American Championship in which he scored six goals and captained his country to the final.
His first team debut came as a second-half substitute in the 2025 FA Cup final and the youngster even came close to equalising as City eventually lost out to Crystal Palace.
Another appearance off the bench came the following week in the season-ending Premier League trip to Fulham.
He scored a magnificent free-kick during the FIFA Club World Cup win over Al Ain in Atlanta that summer before injury ruled him out of the rest of the tournament.
Last season saw him first head to German side Bayer Leverkusen on loan before switching to Girona in January.
The 20-year-old will now spend the campaign with Marco Silva’s Portuguese side as they compete in the Primeira Liga and the Europa League.
