South Zone once again fell short, having lost to Central Zone in the final last season.
The star of the final was East Zone skipper Ishan Kishan, who amassed a combined 350 runs across the two innings, including a marathon 270 in the first. Kumar Kushagra also shone with the bat, scoring a century in the first innings.
Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had an average final by his standards, scoring 44 in the first innings and eight in East Zone’s second.
After East Zone piled on 708 in the first innings, South Zone was left playing catch-up. Mohammed Shami and Mukesh Kumar then took five wickets between them to bowl South Zone out for 336.
East Zone chose not to enforce the follow-on and batted on, with Md Kounain Quraishi scoring a century. With no result in sight, the two teams shook hands and agreed to settle for a draw.
