
The are hoping for an offensive resurgence in 2026. after Kevin Patullo disappointed in 2025. The Eagles made this change in part to allow their superstar running back to thrive once again after a rough 2025 campaign.
Barkley admitted that he still has a lot of work to do while . He revealed one big area of his game to thrive in a Sean McVay-style offense.
“Guys who do really well in outside zone scheme stuff are more like one-cut backs,” Barkley said, per ESPN’s Tim McManus. “I naturally, especially after my ACL [tear in 2020], like to cut off of two, so just prepping myself.”

Saquon has clearly been in the lab preparing for Mannion’s offense. Barkley will be the engine that sets up every other aspect for the Eagles, so it is crucial that he masters everything.
It was also be a big change to play more from under center, compared to the shotgun-heavy approach Philly has used in recent seasons.
Ultimately, Saquon just wants to get back to being the most dangerous player on the field. That is something he doesn’t feel he did well enough in 2025.
“Being a better playmaker,” Barkley said on what he wants to improve from last season. “That’s why I was brought here, that’s what I feel I’m one of the best in the league [at] and just bringing that back.”
If Barkley can return to this 2024 form, or something close to it, then Philadelphia could be a dangerous team once again this fall.
It will be exciting to see how the Eagles look on offense in their season opener this weekend.
