BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The East Baton Rouge District Attorney's Office and local law enforcement announced the prohibition of drones around Tiger Stadium during home games.
According to a release, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), commonly known as drones, cannot be used over or around Tiger Stadium during home football games. This restriction goes into effect one hour before scheduled kickoff for each game and one hour after the game concludes.
This no-drone zone is enforced by Louisiana state law and federal aviation law.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) enforces Temporary Flight Restrictions for all Division I NCAA football games. This prohibits all drones and similar model aircraft within a three-nautical mile radius and up to 3,000 feet above ground level around stadiums with a capacity of at least 30,000 people.
Any person violating this restriction is subject to being ticketed or even arrested and faces a fine up to $4,000, serving up to two years, or both, in addition to forfeiting the drone used during the violation.
In previous game-day information releases, Southern University also emphasized the prohibition of drone usage.
