The Miami Dolphins opened Week 2 of the 2026 NFL Preseason by activating rookie wide receiver Chris Bell from the non-football injury list. Bell has been recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in November when he was playing at Louisville. He has been allowed to do rehab work but could not practice while on the NFI list; he made his practice debut on Monday, wearing a red, no-contact jersey.

Miami Dolphins on SI reporter Alain Poupart took a closer look at Bell’s activation and what it could mean for the Dolphins as they prepare for their Preseason Week 2 game against the New York Giants and for the regular season start next month:

Because of his body size and type and his playing style, Bell has drawn comparisons to new New England wide receiver A.J. Brown, and having Bell and the speedy and tall [rookie wide receiver Caleb] Douglas together on the field bring all sorts of interesting possibilities for new QB Malik Willis and the passing game.

Because he’s a rookie coming off a major knee injury, the Dolphins and especially their fans will have to resist the temptation of expecting too much too soon from Bell, but it’s also OK to dream big about the potential of the wide receiver corps if both he and Douglas can reach their full potential.

You can check out the rest of that story here, and the rest of the day’s round-up below.

Jonah Savaiinaea takes major step forward in Preseason Week 1

Dolphins’ Savaiinaea on what changed. And Aikman, Achane, Douglas, Rodriguez – Barry Jackson, Miami Herald
Jonah Savaiinaea isn’t going to attribute his strong camp and excellent preseason debut to his move from left guard, where he struggled mightily as an NFL rookie, to right guard, where he thrived in college at Arizona.
