“Roki Sasaki faced hitters today at Dodger Stadium, throwing multiple simulated innings to Minor Leaguers. That could be his last box to check before potentially rejoining the Dodgers’ rotation as soon as the upcoming road trip,” Chen reported Wednesday.
The 24-year-old has recorded a 4.60 ERA across 23 starts this season. While his numbers do not jump off the page, Sasaki played a significant role out of the bullpen in the postseason last year. Having Sasaki available in the playoffs once again this season will be important.

It will be interesting to see what Sasaki’s role will be during the postseason. Last year he pitched in various roles out of the bullpen during the Dodgers’ run to the World Series. In fact, he even had some save opportunities.
Sasaki can pitch in multiple roles once again if necessary. He could give the Dodgers multiple innings of relief, while he also may be an option for late-game opportunities.
