For two months, Freddie Freeman was practically mute at the plate, at least when it came to home runs. All that changed on Wednesday night as the Los Angeles Dodgers faced the St. Louis Cardinals at home.

In the bottom of the 1st inning, Freeman blasted one out to left-center field with two runners on. This gave the Dodgers a 3-0 lead and marked Freeman’s first home run since July 4.

The last homer was a solo shot in the 6th inning of a 3-0 win over the San Diego Padres. Freeman came into the game with 15 home runs to his name. He is also batting .303 with 63 RBIs and 153 hits.

As of now, the Dodgers are rolling along with an 82-56 record. It is just a matter of time before they win yet another National League West Division title. Meanwhile, they are looking to win three consecutive World Series titles. The last team to do so was the New York Yankees from 1998 to 2000.

However, it won’t come on a silver platter if they do. After all, the Dodgers recently experienced a seven-game losing streak. Plus, they are facing a strong challenge from the Milwaukee Brewers, who may be poised to upset them in the postseason.

Nevertheless, if Freeman is back to swinging for the fences from this point on, that provides an added boost.

As this story is being published, the Dodgers lead the Cardinals 3-0. They are set to close out their series against St. Louis a Dodger Stadium on Thursday. Afterward, they begin another three-game home series against the Washington Nationals.
