Diana Taurasi has had high praise for Las Vegas Aces player A’ja Wilson during a podcast with Bill Simmons this week.
Wilson is once again dominating the WNBA when it comes to points this season, and is currently averaging a league-high 26.0 per game.
Kelsey Mitchell of the Indiana Fever is second (25.0), followed by her teammate, Caitlin Clark (22.5).
But now, Taurasi has suggested that Wilson could be the first player in the league’s history to average 30 or more points.

Speaking on The Bill Simmons Podcast, she stated: “Well, when I say someone is going to average 30 or maybe even 35, it’s going to be her [Wilson].”
Right before making that claim, Taurasi outlined why A’ja is ‘so impressive’, highlighting the work she does on her game during the offseason.
The ex-WNBA star explained: “But the thing with A’ja that’s so impressive, I’ve never seen a player, and I always have these deep conversations with other basketball minds who I trust.
“And I’m like, you are who you are, there’s not a lot of players that I met earlier on in my career that just became a great passer or a great decision maker, or a great shooter. Yeah, you can improve a little bit, but usually who you are is who you are.
“When I saw A’ja in college, I would have never thought she would’ve got to this point, to be honest. And that’s just a credit to her, being in the gym.
“You know, people always say, ‘Well, you know, during the summer, I want to add this’, she actually did it. Every summer, every offseason, she’s added something. That’s really hard to do.”
Wilson already holds the record for the highest points per game average across one season, earning a total of 26.87 back in 2024.
Her current 2026 average would also be the second-highest in WNBA history, overtaking Taurasi’s total of 25.29 from 2006.
