Yet, not everyone is a fan of the current state of Oklahoma football.
Some fans said that it isn’t Venables’ fault that the Sooners had fallen. According to them, the coach has done his best.
Brent Venables’ message on continuing with the Oklahoma Sooners
Shortly after the news of the extension broke, the coach shared a short statement with her feelings about continuing to lead the Oklahoma Sooners for the foreseeable future:
“It is truly an honor and a privilege to serve as the head coach at the University of Oklahoma and to represent a place with such a proud tradition, an incredibly passionate and loyal fan base, and expectations that match our own,” the statement .
In 2025, Oklahoma ended up with a 10-3 record, falling in the first round of the College Football Playoff to Alabama 34-24. It also claimed the 13th spot in the AP Poll.
