The 2029 class begin their sophomore seasons on the gridiron this month, and as some prospects continue to stake their claims for stars, Rivals has now released its initial top 100 rankings for the cycle. This follows the release of Rivals’ 2029 watchlist back in June.

These prospects still have three full seasons of high school football left, but many have flashed early and are already on Rivals’ radar. The rankings will eventually expand to a full Rivals300 after the upcoming season.

$19.99 gets you a FULL year of On3 | Rivals national coverage

To kick off Monday’s release, Rivals is counting down the top 10 overall prospects in the initial rankings for the class of 2029, accompanied with updated scouting summaries from Rivals National Scout Cody Bellaire:

9. WR Jacorey Shockley

School: McEachern (Ga.)
Scout’s Take:
“Jacorey Shockley is a tough, sure-handed wide receiver with smooth route running and fluid hips. His ability to separate from defenders and turn first downs into touchdowns makes him a dangerous threat for defenses every time he catches the football. At 6-foot-1.5, 185 pounds, Shockley jumped nearly 10 feet in the broad jump and shuttled under a 4.40 in the shuttle during the spring camp circuit. During his freshman season at Georgia powerhouse program McEachern (Ga.) high school, he scored a touchdown on nearly every third catch totaling ten touchdowns on 33 catches for over 600 yards. His natural hands combined with his overall movement skills make primed for a highly productive, breakout sophomore season.”

10. S Captain Munnerlyn Jr.

School: Williamson (Ala.)
Scout’s Take: “Captain Munnerlyn Jr., the son of former 10-year NFL veteran Captain Munnerlyn, is a dynamite safety prospect who loves playing downhill and making plays on the football. The 6-foot, 185 pound defensive back filled the stat sheet in nearly every defensive category as a freshman at Williamson (Ala.) high school. Munnerlyn Jr. complied 63 total tackles, five tackles-for-loss, three sacks, two interceptions, and 9 pass breakups helping lead Williamson to a 12-1 record. His comfort level and instincts in zone coverage, man coverage, and as box player in run support makes him a three-dimensional safety prospect. Plus, as a multi-sport athlete playing basketball and baseball, Munnerlyn Jr. is just scratching the surface of his potential on the football field.”

This countdown will be updated.
