The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 23 days away.
As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.
Here is a look at the present of No. 23 at LSU:
No. 23 - RB Stacy Gage
Gage is part of the rebuilt running back depth, as the Tigers kept their top two rushers and then replaced everyone behind them. The UCF Golden Knights transfer was a four-star in high school who has not seen much opportunity over his first two years in college.
The running back out of Tampa took a redshirt as a true freshman and then had 13 rushes for 63 yards and a touchdown last season at UCF. Now he comes to LSU, where he will ideally receive more looks, though he does have some backs ahead of him on the depth chart.
Caden Durham and Harlem Berry are known to be the starters. Out of the transfers, Dilin Jones has made the most noise and is believed to be the third back. There has been a lot of time since spring, and Gage will likely have some chances throughout the year to earn more snaps.
No. 23 - CB Aidan Anding
The Tigers are very excited about Anding's future in Baton Rouge, and the plan was to get him involved in the rotation this season. Unfortunately, though, the sophomore suffered a torn Achilles back in April. He's going to be out all year long.
Anding has appeared in eight career games, mostly as a special-teamer. He has one career snap on defense, per Pro Football Focus. He has two tackles.
The former four-star was around a top 200 player coming out of high school in Ruston, La. He was a multi-sport athlete, playing football, basketball, the long jump and the 100m dash, doing well in all of them, per his 247 profile.
When he comes back next season, he will be joined by his brother, Jayden, who is a 2027 LSU commit. Both are key pieces of the secondary moving forward and both are the exact type of athletes that Corey Raymond is able to get a lot out of.
