
A discussion on the ‘Strength of an Empowered Women’s Society’ at the programme focused on issues including the role of women in ensuring equal opportunities for girls and boys within their families.
According to the organisers, the discussion also covered the role of women in speaking up confidently on community issues and participating in decision-making, ways to strengthen women’s leadership in SDMCs, Gram Panchayats and other local forums, and the changes women leaders seek to bring about in education at the community level.
This was followed by the identification of best practices and the felicitation of women leaders who have made significant contributions to education at the community level.
The programme was organised by V. Help Rural Development Organisation under the Shikshagraha Movement, in collaboration with Makkala Jagruthi, Mantra4Change, Quest Alliance and Shikshalok.
More than 50 women leaders, Shiksha Chavadi coordinators, young women, community members and officials participated in the dialogue.
