The Shane Steichen and Daniel Jones-led offense found quite a bit of success last season against Jessie Minter's defense last season when he was the LA Chargers' defensive coordinator.
Minter, of course, is now the head coach of the at home this Sunday to open the regular season.
When the Colts and Chargers met last season, the Indianapolis offense was rolling. In this game specifically, the Colts would drop 38 points on Minter's LA defense.
Jones was for 288 yards with two scores. Jonathan Taylor rushed for 94 yards on just 16 carries, while Alec Pierce totaled 98 receiving yards on five receptions.
As a unit, the Colts were efficient on third down, effective in the red zone, and averaged an impressive 6.9 yards per play.
Now, to state the obvious, what happened last year has no bearing on this year's Week 1 matchup. Minter also has different personnel to work with in Baltimore, which can alter what his defensive scheme looks like.
That said, Steichen was prepared and capitalized on just about anything the Minter defense threw at the Colts.
