They'll look to continue that stretch in a three-game set against the Philadelphia Phillies, with game one set for 6:40 p.m. PT on Monday at T-Mobile Park. The Mariners are set to see the potential return of several players during the series and in the next week, but will also be without one of their promising young players for the rest of the season. Per Seattle general manager Justin Hollander, the team's former top prospect and a former top 10 prospect in baseball, Colt Emerson, is set to undergo season-ending surgery Wednesday to repair a displaced tendon in his wrist. The injury was one that had plagued Emerson since before spring training. Per Hollander, Emerson went to see renowned orthopedic and hand surgeon Dr. Donald Sheridan before the offseason, who advised Emerson that the injury was one he could need surgery for eventually but that it wasn't needed at the moment. "Colt's response was roughly '(heck) no' (to surgery)," Hollander said in a pregame interview Monday. " ... He's dealt with this previous to the spring off-and-on. I think, this year, it just got much worse for him. Different guys have different pain thresholds. My belief is that Colt Emerson has a really high one and he played to the point until he felt like that it had crossed the threshold of being smart for him to continue to play. " Emerson, in his first major league season, slashed .190/.246/.335 with a .581 OPS in 69 games and hit six doubles, a triple and eight home runs with 23 RBIs.

Other injury notes -- Injured veteran infielder J.P. Crawford has been on the shelf since July 31 due to left wrist inflammation. He began a rehab assignment with the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers on Aug. 20 and was at T-Mobile Park for pregame fielding and batting practice Monday. Crawford will be reevaluated for potential activation off the IL for Tuesday.

Criswell (right pec strain) began a rehab assignment with Tacoma on Saturday. He walked one batter and allowed three earned runs on two hits (one home run) in 0.1 innings. "Tracking towards (a return in) early September, first of September, something in that range," Hollander said. "First (rehab) outing — results, not great. He felt great. Which is much more important than the results in a Triple-A rehab game. " Brash (right lat strain) threw a bullpen Monday but Hollander was unable to provide a specific timeline on when the reliever would go on a rehab assignment. -- Triple-A outfielder Brennen Davis (hamstring) is still ramping up a running progression. He's been out with his current injury since June 2. -- Right-handed starting pitcher Bryan Woo (right shoulder) feels "100% confident" that he'll be able to make his scheduled start against Philadelphia on Wednesday following his bullpen Sunday.
