Clubs placed under transfer embargoes reassure fans

The new National League season started last weekend [Getty Images] AFC Fylde and Halifax Town have moved to reassure supporters there are no financial problems at the National League clubs after they were two of six teams placed under a temporary transfer embargo. Aldershot Town, Hornchurch and Morecambe and Altrincham were also sanctioned on Tuesday over non-compliance with the league's financial regulations following late submission of budgetary information. Altrincham's ban was lifted on Wednesday morning after the relevant paperwork was supplied and Fylde, Halifax and Hornchurch have all issued statements to confirm they are confident of a similar outcome. "Following confirmation that AFC Fylde has been placed under a temporary transfer embargo by the National League, the club would like to reassure supporters that this relates solely to the late submission of financial information," read a Fylde statement. "This is purely an administrative matter and does not relate to the financial position of the club. We fully expect this matter to be resolved shortly and swiftly." Halifax have told the league they will supply the relevant information by the start of next week. "We would like to clarify the situation to put people's minds at rest," the club said in a statement. "The situation is very temporary and relates to the submission of some financial budgetary information. Our information is being submitted late for reasons explained to the National League on Monday where a further extension was requested until Monday 17th August. "They have their League rules and have chosen to go down this particular route. We fully expect to have our information submitted as described. "We must stress it has nothing to do with the actual finances of the football club. Everything is in good shape in that respect. It is purely administrative." Hornchurch, newly promoted to the National League's top flight, conceded they were late in returning the relevant documents. However, a club statement said: "The information for Hornchurch will be submitted today [Thursday] and we expect the embargo to be lifted by the end of the week." Aldershot and Morecambe have yet to comment publicly.
