The latest

According to Wednesday’s NFL Transactions Report, the Kansas City Chiefs have yet to make the signing of veteran defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah official. He was technically on a “visit” on Wednesday when he was seen on the sideline of training camp practice in St. Joe.

When he does reportedly sign, there will need to be a corresponding move on the 90-man offseason roster. One local source is reporting who that will be.

Kansas City Chiefs’ latest roster move sees UDFA cut before preseason Week 1 to make room for veteran DE Emmanuel Ogbah | A to Z Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs officially announced they have signed veteran defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah. This comes after a few days of maneuvering between the official announcement of Ogbah’s return and his travel to Chiefs training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri, to pass a physical and sign his deal with the team. With a full roster, Kansas City needed to make a corresponding roster move. According to Chiefs Digest’s Matt Derrick, the team has waived undrafted free agent CB Bryce Phillips.

Five Observations from Wednesday’s Practice | Chiefs Training Camp 8/12 | The Mothership

3. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes connected with wide receiver Tyquan Thornton for a deep completion on the first snap of 11-on-11 drills.

Mahomes zipped a beautiful deep ball into the arms of Thornton on the very first play of 11-on-11 drills on Wednesday morning, continuing what has been a strong connection throughout camp so far.

Notably, Thornton was a standout just a few days ago with multiple catches during Monday’s practice before logging another impressive performance on Wednesday.

Why Kenneth Walker III has Chiefs like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce dreaming big | The Athletic

“Make a play out of nothing to a 20-yard gain,” Mahomes said. “That’s going to be the biggest impact I think we’ll have.”

Another future Hall of Famer is seeing things a similar way.

Tight end Travis Kelce, when asked about his first impression of Walker this week, first answered with a sound instead of words:

“Woooo!”

“Ken Walker is going to be a hell of a ballplayer for us, if you didn’t know that already,” Kelce said. “He’s got every trait you can possibly want at the running back position.”

Woods represents first-round investment, Allen showcases talent emerging into a potential NFL role, and Benson embodies proving to everyone why you belong.

All three are competing in positions that the Chiefs needed refinement or an upgrade at; given things pan out, positive implications could be coming to Kansas City football.

For now, these three players have emerged as three of the most intriguing in St.Joseph and give Kansas City a reason to keep watching as the season approaches.

The 30-year-old entrepreneur, wife, mother of three and former professional women’s soccer star took to Instagram Tuesday to share photos of her three children – 5-year-old Sterling Skye, 3-year-old Patrick “Bronze,” and 1-year-old Golden Raye – cheering on their dad at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri, during training camp.

he photo dump featured the young family of five posing for several photos on Aug. 4, as well as numerous candid shots of the celebrity parents embracing their children at the fun family outing.

Seven observations from Day 13 of Chiefs camp: Emmett Johnson gets 1st-team test | The Kansas City Star

Running back Emmett Johnson earned a touch with the first team in 11-on-11, which has been a rarity for him so far this camp. Andy Reid seemingly has a lot of candidates for jet action — including Thornton, Cyrus Allen and Xavier Worthy — but it’s been a while since Worthy has participated in team periods as he recovers from a shoulder injury.

Report: TE Waller Joining QB Young, Panthers on one-year deal | NFL.com

Darren Waller’s comeback from retirement isn’t ending with a swansong for the Miami Dolphins.

Daniels sends cease and desist to LSU after Pickett given No. 5 | ESPN

At the center of the dispute, according to a statement from Daniels’ spokesperson to ESPN, is that the Tigers are allowing sophomore cornerback DJ Pickett to wear the No. 5 jersey that Daniels wore when he became LSU’s third Heisman Trophy winner in 2023.

While Daniels’ jersey hasn’t been retired by the Tigers, it’s the first time a player has worn No. 5 since he left the program for the NFL.

WWE reportedly has contract waiting for NFL rookie | NJ.com

Ringsidenews.com reported that the WWE has already been watching Rechsteiner “for years” and that “one WWE higher-up believes an offer is essentially guaranteed” whenever Rechsteiner hangs up his cleats.

The wide receiver was hit with a six-game suspension last week, according to ESPN.com. A reason for the suspension was not given. Luckily for him, the suspension will not prevent him from participating in preseason games and practices.

Film breakdown: What can Emmanuel Ogbah give the Chiefs in Year 11?

There should be no illusions that Ogbah is here to save the day; the edge unit will still be thin even with the addition, but what he can provide the Chiefs is a veteran presence and a player with a decent floor for 2026.

George Karlaftis is the only edge rusher on the Chiefs roster with extensive experience, and at the bare minimum, Ogbah should be able to step in and eat up snaps as a run defender and help provide leadership to the Chiefs’young defensive line.

The best-case scenario would be for Ogbah to return to the form he displayed during the 2024 season, but this may not be in the cards for him at this point either.
