Cardinals make several roster moves

The Arizona Cardinals made several roster moves, including placing second-round draft pick OG Chase Bisontis on IR. By placing him on IR before the final roster cuts, this means he is gone for the year. There are conditions under which he could return very late, but with the type of injury he has, he won’t return until next spring.

Bisontis was in a tight battle for the starting right guard spot with Isaiah Adams. He is the second rookie to be placed on season-ending IR along with DT Kaleb Proctor.

The team made some other moves.

Also placed on IR are TE Jameson Geers with a thumb injury and LB Austin Keys with an undisclosed injury he suffered against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Cardinals also waived/injured TE Kenny Yeboah with an injury settlement.

In other injury news, the coaching staff has decided to keep rookie RB Jeremiyah Love out of the remaining preseason games because of his high ankle sprain he sustained in the Raiders’ contest.

In corresponding moves, the franchise signed TE Baylor Cupp, RB Tre Stewart, and DT Keveion’ta Spears.

Cupp (6’-6”, 243 pounds) came out of high school as a 5-star recruit and attended Texas A&M and then went into the transfer portal and chose Texas Tech. He went undrafted in 2024 and signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. He has a 30” vertical jump with a wingspan of 6’-8 ¼”. He spent the majority of 2024 on the Chiefs’ practice squad. He then inked a deal with the Baltimore Ravens but was waived during final cuts. He then spent the season with the Dallas Renegades of the UFL, where he had 15 targets, 8 catches for 73 yards, and 0 touchdowns. He is considered a blocking tight end and is known as being injury-prone.

Stewart (5’-10”, 192 pounds) is showing up to a very full running back room. He played for Jacksonville State, earned First-Team All-Conference USA honors, and posted back-to-back 200-yard games. In 2024, he ran for 1,604 yards with 23 TDs and 3 fumbles lost. This spring, he played for the Orlando Storm of the UFL. He played in just five games with 28 attempts for 115 yards, 0 touchdowns, and 0 fumbles.

Spears (6’-4”, 313 pounds) went to Louisiana Tech, Memphis, and finally SMU. This past season, he played in all 13 games with 15 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 0 sacks, 1 hurry, and 4 batted passes.
