Clark and Reese are two of seven Team USA players making their World Cup debuts, and the new generation does not want to tarnish the Americans' legacy on the international stage. Team USA has won every gold medal at the Olympics and the World Cup since a bronze-medal finish at the 2006 World Cup.

While the job in Berlin is far from finished, Clark is already looking ahead toward the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028. In what should come as no surprise, she hopes to make her Olympic debut on home soil, hopefully with a World Cup gold medal already on her resume.
"I think it would certainly help and hopefully it's just a step in the direction of where I want to keep building and hopefully the goals that I want to achieve of hopefully playing in the Olympics in '28," Clark said.
