Cade Cunningham has revealed why he never contacted LeBron James about playing for the Detroit Pistons.
James finally left the Los Angeles Lakers after eight seasons this summer and had several teams interested in signing him.
He ultimately rejected the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Miami Heat and others to join the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-year deal.
The Pistons were never considered a realistic option, and Cunningham never made any effort to improve their chances.

The Detroit Pistons were probably never going to land LeBron James, but Cade Cunningham could at least have tried.
After all, LeBron’s addition likely would have made the Pistons the leading contender to win the Eastern Conference next season.
However, Cunningham explained that he did not bother to approach James because he would not have “cared” what he had to say.
“I didn’t give LeBron a call. I don’t think he would have cared to hear what I had to say about it,” the Pistons guard told USA Today.
“He’s doing what he wants to do at this point. I’m not mad at that. It is what it is, so good for him.”
While Cunningham is probably right, it would have been interesting to know whether LeBron had any interest in joining him.
Cunningham, James, Duncan Robinson, John Collins and Jalen Duren would have formed a fascinating starting five.
