A delegation of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) legislators on Friday approached and complained to the National Commission for Women (NCW) and National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in New Delhi on Friday on the ‘attack and indecent behaviour’ of the Telangana Police towards women legislators in front of the Assembly premises in Hyderabad on September 7.
The delegation comprising former Ministers P. Sabitha Indra Reddy, V. Sunitha Laxma Reddy, Satyavathi Rathod, G. Jagadish Reddy, legislators Kova Laxmi, S. Vani Devi and P. Rajeshwar Reddy, MPs V. Ravichandra, D. Damodar Rao, legal cell members Lalitha Reddy, S. Bharath Kumar and others apprised the two Commissions that the police tried to stifle them and insulted party leaders by pulling their sarees.
They requested the two bodies to direct the State police to keep the CCTV footage safe, since the police did not register an FIR on their complaint even 100 hours after the incident. The Women’s Commission assured the BRS legislators that it would seek a report from the Director General of Police.
They stated that they had complained to the Chairperson of the Women’s Commission Vijaya K. Rahatkar and NHRC member Vijaya Bharathi that they were prevented from entering the Assembly premises
