LOS ANGELES – Brice Turang was out of the lineup for a second day Friday, Aug. 14 at Dodger Stadium while dealing with left knee pain.

Turang can hit without discomfort, manager Pat Murphy said, but if he hasn’t improved by the following day, Aug. 15, the Brewers may need to make an IL move.

“We’re going to hope and pray he sees improvement tomorrow,” Murphy said.

Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Cooper Pratt (12) hits a two-run double during the sixth inning of their game against the Colorado Rockies Sunday, July 26, 2026 at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Cooper Pratt recovering well

Shortstop Cooper Pratt’s stay on the injured list could be a minimum one.

Pratt, out since Aug. 9 with a hamstring strain, is already hitting and fielding. He will likely go out on a short rehab assignment Aug. 18, and if all goes well he could return to the Brewers the next day.

Sal Frelick nearing a return

Sal Frelick played right field at Class AAA  Aug. 14 for the first time on his rehab assignment. If all goes well, he could be “not too many days away.”

Frelick homered in the game, his fifth with Nashville.

“It’s not as much defense as it is health,” Murphy said. “Like, can he play in a game and turn it loose throwing a baseball? The at-bats are also needed, that’s why we sent him early.

Jared Koenig ‘not trending in the right direction’

The Brewers moved Jared Koenig’s option from the complex in Arizona to Nashville, but reports weren’t exactly encouraging from Phoenix.

“There’s a game and it’s 95 [mph] and you’re like, ‘Whoa,’” Murphy said. “That’s hard to produce when you’re pitching at that level. Then the next day he’s really, really sore. And the next outing is 91.”

Koenig spent nearly three months on the injured list with a sprained left UCL but didn’t look right upon returning to the majors.

“There’s some element of injury in there,” Murphy said. “...We just don’t know if it’s going to happen.”
