Martin Perez is on fire with his starts on the mound, putting together another spectacular display in the Atlanta on Thursday afternoon.

Perez is going through the 15th season of his career in the majors, his first with the Braves. The pitcher has been a journeyman throughout the second half of his career since leaving the Texas Rangers after 2018. He has represented seven teams, including a brief reunion with Texas, with Atlanta being his latest stop.

Going into the matchup, Atlanta suffered a series loss after falling 7-1 in Game 1 and 7-2 in Game 2 against Tampa Bay. They needed a win to salvage the series, which required a quality performance on the mound from Perez.

How Martin Perez, Braves played against Rays

Martin Perez continues his incredible form on the mound as the Braves took down the Rays by a 3-1 score in the series finale.

Both teams were quiet for most of the contest, being scoreless for the first seven innings. It took until the eighth inning for a team to finally get on the board.

The Braves ended up being that squad, scoring all three of their runs in that frame. Tampa Bay got a run back in the final inning but didn’t have enough firepower to pull off a late rally.

Atlanta improved to an 86-61 record on the season, controlling the top spot in the NL East Division standings. They are above the Philadelphia Phillies and the Miami Marlins at the moment.

The Braves will look forward to their next series, remaining at home. They host the Phillies as Game 1 commences on Sept. 11 at 7:15 p.m. ET.
