CHILLICOTHE, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) -- The new coach at IVC is very familiar with central Illinois football. Cameron Bailliez, a 2016 Pekin High School grad, is the new coach of the Grey Ghosts. He comes back to central Illinois after coaching six years in North Carolina. Bailliez succeeds Tim Heinz, who retired after 21 years at IVC and a school record 99 career wins. Heinz guided IVC to 10 playoff appearances, the most recent in 2019. "On offense, we will be more position-less. You'll see guys shift in motion all over the place. We'll see a guy playing tight end now might be a receiver. He might be a running back, he'll be all over the place," said Bailliez. The players seem to like the new playbook. "I like the new change. We've really been getting after it," said senior receiver Colin Toliver. "There's been a lot of dedication and hard work going on. He's really stepped up in this program and filled those shoes. He's made a lot happen and a lot of chance, for good." IVC, which went 2-7 last year, has just six seniors on the roster this fall. But one of them in standout quarterback Keegan Schol. "We have nothing but new plays, really. Everything is new," said senior linebacker Mason Talley. "I'm liking the plays. They are definitely more advanced." IVC opens the season at Monticello on Friday night. Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
