Kancherla Srinivasa Rao, the 10th-generation descendant of saint-poet and devotee Bhakta Ramadasu (Kancherla Gopanna), along with his family members, offered prayers at the Sri Kanaka Durga temple atop Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada on Friday.

Temple Executive Officer V.K. Seena Naik received Mr. Srinivasa Rao and his family and made arrangements for their special darshan of Goddess Kanaka Durga.

After the darshan, Vedic scholars performed Veda Ashirvachanam for the family at the Ashirvachanam Mandapam on the temple premises. Mr. Naik presented the couple with a portrait of Goddess Kanaka Durga, laddu prasadam and seshavastram.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said it was a matter of great fortune for his family to belong to the lineage of Bhakta Ramadasu, who spread devotion to Lord Rama through his devotional compositions.

He thanked the temple authorities for welcoming his family and making special arrangements for their darshan, saying the gesture had brought them immense happiness and spiritual satisfaction.
