South Western Railway will operate one round trip of a Ganapati special train service between Yesvantpur in Bengaluru and Karwar in coastal Karnataka, and further to Madgaon in Goa, to clear the extra rush of passengers during the festival season. The services will be operated on September 11 and 14.

According to a notification from the SWR, Train No. 06591 Yesvantpur-Karwar-Madgaon Festival Special (train on demand) will depart from Bengaluru on Friday September 11 at 11.55 pm and reach Karwar at 4.50 pm on Saturday September 12. The train will reach Madgaon at 6.10 pm.

On the return trip, Train No. 06592 Madgaon-Bengaluru Cantonment Festival Special will leave Madgaon in Goa at 11 am on Monday September 14, and Karwar at 12 noon to reach Bengaluru Cantonment at 5.20 am on Tuesday September 15.

The two services will have commercial halts in Kunigal, Channarayapatna, Hassan, Sakleshpur, Subrahmanya Road, Kabaka Puttur, Bantwal, Surathkal, Mulki, Udupi, Barkur, Kundapura, Byndoor, Bhatkal, Murudeshwarn, Honnavar, Kumta, Gokarna Road, Ankola, Karwar, and Canacona.

The train comprises one 2-tier AC, three 3-Tier AC, 10 second class sleeper, four general second class, and two luggage-cum-brake van coaches.

Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Member of Parliament Kota Srinivas Poojary, who had demanded the festival special, thanked the Railway Ministry for operating the special service at a time when many people from the coast were not able to get accommodation in regular trains and buses.
